Assistant Manager of Financial Reporting


Reporting to the Manager of Financial Reporting and collaborating with regional finance teams, the position of Assistant Manager of Financial Reporting is responsible for maintaining WesternOne Inc's ("WEQ") external corporate reporting with regulatory authorities, accounting policies, internal control measures, enterprise-wide IT systems, quarterly reviews and annual audits, financial planning and analysis and periodic management reports. 

Please Note: This is a 12 month maternity leave coverage role with the possibility to extend to 18 months, based at our Vancouver Head Office.  



  • Direct accounting activities of WEQ and its affiliated entities through collaborating with the corporate accountant and regional finance teams;
  • Establish and maintain standard accounting policies and internal controls for existing operations as well as new businesses acquired, and ensure ongoing compliance;
  • Maintain external financial reporting process in relation to the preparation of WEQ’s consolidated financial statements, note disclosures, and other public filing documents such as management’s discussion & analysis, annual information form, and information circular;
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end entity financial statements including the coordination of the corporate month-end close process;
  • Perform accounting research for complex transactions;
  • Prepare materials for WEQ’s board of directors’ meetings;
  • Coordinate with the Canada Revenue Agency and our tax advisors for tax related matters;
  • Manage financial audit process, including communication with auditors, preparation of working papers and related analyses;
  • Maintenance of banking controls;
  • Assist in acquisition accounting as the need arises; and
  • Other duties and responsibilities as they arise from time to time.



  • 5+ years of working experience in the field of public corporate accounting (public accounting firm experience in auditing public companies is preferred);
  • Designated accountant (CPA);
  • Strong Excel, Word and Powerpoint skills;
  • Strong communication skills with an analytical mindset;
  • Goal-oriented attitude and thrives under pressure/project deadlines; and
  • Working knowledge of Netsuite, and prior experiences related to IT and internal controls implementation would be a strong asset.Please see attached.
